ENELCO S.A. was established on September 16, 1999. The Shareholders of the company are ENEL INVESTMENT HOLDING B.V. (a 100% subsidiary of the Italian Electrical Utility ENEL S.p.A.). holding 75% of the shares and PROMETHEUS GAS S.A., the joint company of COPELOUZOS GROUP and GAZPROM, with 25%. The scope of the company is to develop projects in the electric power sector in Greece and in the neighbouring countries, operating into a liberalised Greek energy market as of February 19, 2001, and also the prospect of exporting energy to Italy via the existing submarine electrical power cable between the two countries.
